Newport News is in Virginia, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Newport News follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. My husband and I arrived this morning at 11:00am with a 11:33am tee time to meet my Dad and a good friend to celebrate my Dad’s 82nd birthday - literally TODAY - with a round of golf (my Dad’s favorite thing in the World besides his family). I don’t play and came along to ride and enjoy the time with my Dad today for his special day. When my husband went in to pay for his and my Dad’s rounds, he shared that I would be riding only; we’re aware that courses charge fees for this and wanted to be honest and pay the fee. We were told by the cashier and it was later confirmed by the manager on duty, Dawn, that this is not permitted until after 3:00pm. I’d have to be dressed appropriately for golf AND have my own clubs in order to proceed with our scheduled 11:33am tee time. We were also told that this “rule” is on the course’s website and is posted inside the pro shop, which we only saw when we were purposefully looking for it on the site and on the back wall inside. My husband and I were willing to pay - and asked - if we could pay for a round so that I could ride. We were told no. We spoke with the starter; he seemed surprised that we were told no. My husband overheard the manager take

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at this golf course was extremely disappointing. From the moment we arrived, we were met with unprofessional and rude behavior. The gentleman handling the golf carts was unnecessarily disrespectful and spoke to us in a way that was both dismissive and unfriendly. Instead of feeling welcomed as paying customers, we felt like we were an inconvenience. Throughout our visit, several staff members were confrontational and seemed intent on harassing rather than helping guests. Rather than addressing concerns professionally, they approached situations with an attitude that felt hostile and uncalled for. What bothered us most was how degrading the overall experience became. We were spoken to in a condescending manner and treated with a lack of basic courtesy and respect. Customer service should never leave guests feeling embarrassed or belittled. Golf is supposed to be an enjoyable and relaxing experience, but unfortunately, this visit was anything but that. We left feeling frustrated and disappointed by the way we were treated. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this golf course and hope management takes steps to improve

Played the Cardinal course and had a nice round. The atmosphere is great as well. Special thanks to Dawn the Pro Shop. Her energy set the tone for today's round.

My son has recently started taking lessons at the NNGC. He has learn so much in such a short time And the staff have been so supportive! Helping him find the right gloves and encouraging him to hit the range whenever possible. He’s fallen in love and I can’t wait to get out there and watch him play!’

Booked two tee times for 6 adults and told them ahead of time we’d have 3 young kids with us (not playing). No restrictions or waivers were mentioned. When we arrived, we paid in the clubhouse, then went outside to the starter to get our cart keys. The starter booth was empty, and since he had the keys, we couldn’t even get our gear or head to the tee. After waiting about 10 minutes, we had to go back inside just to find someone. Once we finally got to the first tee, we were hit with rules and waiver requirements that had never been communicated—despite mentioning the kids both on the phone and in the clubhouse. We had no issue complying and adjusted immediately—reorganized our groups from 2 and 4 into two groups of 3, had one group walk so the kids could ride properly, and let another group play through while we went back to sign waivers. The problem wasn’t the rules—it was how it was handled. The interaction was unnecessarily rude and caused even more delays before we could start. Despite adjusting, we were stopped again and accused of trying to play as a group of six and told we were being dishonest. We were repeatedly pressed about it before the starter eventually allowed th
